At one point yesterday I thought this might prove undoable, because all the videos for China & Korea arrived on Sunday, and it was a long process watching enough of them to get news without the scoring protocols available(or even the scores in the case of Korea, though at least I had the placements). But after a final scramble when I finally got the top three from Lyon, I finished it this morning and thankfully was able to leave it converting to usable format immediately before going to work, though uploading after stumbling home through the snow took a little longer than expected

And I don’t start working now for two more weeks, but this weekend(and today) was so crazy I wondered how I was to get this vidoe completed. At least it saved to a usable format immediately for the first time in months! Though the ISU claimed copyright. They haven’t blocked it anywhere, but there may be advertisements.

One would think that after a hectic weekend of continually watching the Quebec Summer Skate because the Thornhill stream kept having problems, and a video chock full of too many headlines where I nonetheless couldn’t resist the golden opportunity to yell “MAY DAY! MAY DAY!”, it would have been events enough. And when the video wouldn’t save at first, that should have definitely been enough. But then when I saved it to a huge-ass DV-AVI file and attempted to convert a smaller one, it wouldn’t convert. I finally sweated out the ETA on the iPodME steadily going in the wrong direction, freeing up computer memory in a desperate attempt to get it finished before it stalled, and finally had a file YouTube would take. At least it didn’t get blocked anywhere(it’s embarrassing to report on All That Skate without any footage of Yu-Na, but whatever keeps you viewable), but I think the sound problems must be in the DV-AVI creation, and I ended up spending another half hour adding annotations where information had gotten too garbled, panicking when I thought they hadn’t saved, and finally realized I needed to click on the Publish button. So here it is, and I am going to bed.

Once again I escape SBSi, but when All That Skate is next week, I shall have to attempt to be careful. Also apologies for my voice getting dicey at a couple of points; the sinuses were not good these weekend.

Last week I actually made a video, and TF1 claimed copyright on some clip in it, where since I deliberately wasn’t using French TV footage it was impossible to tell which, and blocked it worldwide. When some educated guesses failed to root the culprit out I decided there really wasn’t much news to report on last week anyway. I was anxious all through this week for fear they’d do it again, but fortunately they’ve left this one alone. Even if SBSi blocked it in both Korea and Japan again. At some point in the future I suspect I will be driven to switch to using a webcam of myself, but I need to figure out how to fix my voice first…
