A few more Cherry Blossom Festival pictures

My date stood me up Sunday, but I went down to the tidal basin anyway.  The blossoms, at least, where there when expected:

That picture was from one side of the tidal basin, where the trees are newer.  On the other side, on the older trees, sometimes the flowers grew out of a tree’s trunk:

I also revisited the Stone Lantern, now boasting of flowery surroundings

Not sure why I thought it was such a good place for a date anyway, though; place was crowded as crazy.  Getting on the train home was a nightmare(that one of the two entrances to the Smithsonian station was closed did not help).

  1. I love that second photo — of the old tree still standing there, linking us all across time. Remember Hampton Court and how we see a vine that was said to be there since the 13th century. I don’t know that it was, but it did look ancient.
